We are seeking an experienced producer/project manager to work with a multi-stakeholder project team to deliver a public event based around street art.

Location:A mix of remote working and office in Southampton 
Fee:£9,000 inclusive of VAT (estimated 30 days) 
Status:Freelance contract with Southampton Forward
Reporting to:Senior Producer
Contract duration:February – May 2024*
***A core output of this role is to deliver the Multi Stories 2-day event at Westquay on Saturday 18th May & Sunday 19th  May 2024; availability on these dates and the days leading up to the weekend is essential. Otherwise, there is flexibility around working days.

Developed in partnership with Westquay, Multi-Stories is a project designed to celebrate Southampton’s communities, their vibrant culture, and the power of creative expression. We aim to create a platform for street artists and musicians to showcase their talent, provide opportunities for up-and-coming Southampton based artists and to involve communities through a mix of activities from graffiti masterclasses and drop-in art sessions, to breakdancing and skate lessons. 2024 will be the event’s second year.

We are seeking an experienced producer/ project manager to deliver a public event. The main outputs of this contract are to:

  • Be overall Event Manager
  • Manage Health & Safety
  • Produce Risk Assessments
  • Liaise with Westquay re: Public Liability Insurance
  • Coordination with Westquay Operations team including but not limited to: Ops Manager, Traffic Management, Security Team, Cleaning Team.
  • Provide logisistics oversight of whole and communication with project team, artists, traders, workshop facilitators, other suppliers and contractors.
  • Produce layout plans, Noise Management Plan, wet weather plan and other event management documents as required.
  • Liaise with neighbouring properties/retailers.
  • Liaise with Southampton Forward and Westquay marketing team.
  • Liaise with creative teams regarding the welfare of artists and team i.e.: toilets/F&B
Project ManagementDelivering a 2-day event at Westquay
Responsible for all aspects of event management
Provide support to all participants
Provide an evaluation report for Southampton Forward
Additional responsibilities- client relationshipWorking with the client, Southampton Forward on all aspects of the project including: marketing & communications, filming and photography
Remuneration and working arrangmentsThe contractor will be responsible for their own pay, tax, National Insurance and pension contribution
The contractor will be expected to provide their own IT equipment to enable them to fulfil the requirements of the contract, including access to a computer/laptop, the internet and phone.
We are looking with someone with the desired following skills and experience, available to start as soon as possible in February 2024
Demonstrable experience of production/project management/live event production
Working with diverse communities
Able to lead and facilitate a complex event
Able to work with multiple external partners
Skills in evaluation
Knowledge of Southampton desirable
