I would like to nominate Colin McAllister as a community legend for the joy and positive energy he spreads throughout Southampton with the fabulous Southampton Ukulele Orchestra (at least 30 players in the group), who are present, it seems, at most community events, spreading ukulele goodness on Southampton’s toast since 2008.  Everyone is welcome to join the ukulele jammers, regardless of their level of experience, making this orchestra one of Southampton’s most inclusive and diverse bands. I took the photo attached on Sunday, the 18th of April 2017, when the Ukulele Jam played for the entire duration of the Marathon to raise money for various charities (and I filmed them for the entire duration too!) Needless to add, I filmed them many more times since. Colin now works as part of the Public Health team, but his personal contribution to the city’s well-being and mental health is massive.
